Bookings Rolling in for London to Brighton
The 28th London to Brighton Classic Car Run and the 16th London to Brighton Kit and Sports Car Run will be taking place on Sunday 5th June 2016, starting from Mercedes Benz World, Weybridge, Surrey.
Bookings are already up by 100% on this time last year – when 364 vehicles were entered. With limited spaces on both runs anyone wanting to take part needs to get their entry in soon.
Some of the older cars for this year’s Classic Run include: A 1925 Morris Bullnose entered by first time participant Ian Westrope who imported the vehicle from New Zealand in 2013; a 1935 Riley Kestrel 12/4 on its longest journey after a 3-year body-off rebuild; and Mark Cooper’s unique Citroen 11B Factory built cabriolet - the only one in the UK.
Coming over from Holland, with one of the more unusual cars, is Cees Bakker with his rally prepared, road-legal, two-stroke Trabant. All classic over 25 years old are eligible to join in and at the newer end of the classic spectrum is a 1983 Ford Fiesta featured on the Wheeler Dealers TV programme and a rare 1986 TWR-kitted version of the iconic Mazda RX7 as featured in Classic and Sportscar magazine.
Regular entrant Darrell Cunningham, Press Officer of the Standard Motor Club, will be raising funds for Cancer Research UK this year and can be supported at www.justgiving.com/Darrell-Cunningham2016.
The classic cars will be visiting the Rural Life Centre at Tilford before heading down to Brighton and Madeira Drive where they will be welcomed by commentator Keith Barry, well known as host to many Brooklands Museum events.
On the Kit & Sports Car Run - which will be calling at the Amberley Museum - the UK Cobra Club will once again be out in force. Last year they had over 30 Cobra replicas on the run. These thundering cars provide a great spectacle as they arrive in Brighton.
